For the love of daal

We at the Wandering Yak truly love lentil daal. We think it's the ultimate convenience food - and the world's greatest health food. It tastes amazing, is super-healthy (vegan, gluten-free, high in protein) and tastes even better re-heated. We started serving it as part of our mezze boxes and, it was so popular, we've started selling it in tubs. For now, grab them from us via our van.

Our daal

Lentil daal is a thick-ish sauce made from lentils and any number of spices and flavours. We think we've perfected our base daal - tonnes of ginger is our secret and have been excited to gradually introduce new flavours including coconut and tamarind and black smoky dal. 

You might be wondering what to do with daal, other than have it alongside an Indian meal. The truth is that daal is extremely versatile; here are just a few ideas:

  • Add a splash of water to thin out to a soup. Top with roasted cauliflower.
  • Top a bowl of quinoa with daal and roast veggies
  • Serve with spaghetti and cheese (seriously, try it!)
  • Fill a pitta with daal and anything else you fancy.
